Wade Belak had a little tour with the Avalanche and was tough as nails. He kept the old-scholl alive in a very modern game.

Avs vs. Oilers - Post Game Rant
Remember the role-players. They knew their roll and they played their roll.
Speed kills but it doesn’t win battles in the corners.
I love Hejduk, but he’s a winning teams captain. I’m not sure he’s the grizzled vertin the Avs need mentoring the younger guys.
Lets see here… head, groin, head, groin, head head…. anyone see a pattern developing here?

Did you know??? Sandis Ozolinsh opened Latvia’s first 18-hole golf course, Ozo Golf Club. Very cool!
What ever happend to??? Owen Nolan
Nolan wasn’t in the Avalanche uniform long before being traded but he did stick around the league long enough to be known by all as a touch, talented player. Seems that Olan has gone the way of many other NHL’ers including Ray Bourque and Bates Battaglia opening his own Restaurant called The Brit (Britannia Arms) in San Jose.

Co-Owner of a minor league team:
Eric Lacroix - Owner and Governor of the Arizona Sundogs of the Central Hockey League
John-Michael Liles - Minority owner of the Indiana Ice of the USHL
Dale Hunter - Co-Owner, President, and Head Coach of the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League
Warren Rychel Part-owner of the Windsor Spitfires of the Ontario Hockey League
25 Games since Adam #Foote hung up the skates, is he missed? I’d say the #avs miss his leadership at the very least.

Where are they now??? It seems like Forsberg was just here in Colorado but lets play this game anyway. Everyone knows that Forsberg is a business man and many know that he’s in the development business with his Dad in addition to the hockey business. What I didnt’ know is that he was importing Crocs into Sweden. It’s hard to dull this mans reputation, but if anything could do it…
What ever happend to: Anyone remember a guy named Ray Bourque? Turns out he’s living the good life back in Boston and is part owner of the Tresca Italian Restaurant. I’d be willing to bet it’s a hot-sport for past and current NHL’ers.
Where are they now??? keeping it obscure, who remembers Bates Battaglia? He too wore the big “A” for a short time and therefor qualifies for “where are they now.” Looks like Bates partnered on a bar touted to be “the classiest dive bar in Raleigh.
“If this is it, I had a hell of a run,” Laperriere said.
Much respect for Laperriere. As tough as he was, he was always classy.

Where are they now???? Awe Barnaby. I was going through an episode of “what ever happened to….” and remembered that the bumbling Matthew Barnaby once wore the big “A”on his chest.
After a quick return to his first line of work (construction) it looks like Barnaby was being groomed for a job as an ESPN analyst before this happened
“Barnaby, 38, pleaded not guilty Saturday to five charges, including criminal mischief, criminal trespass, harassment, criminal contempt and aggravated harassment. He pleaded not guilty at his arraignment Saturday morning, was released on his own recognizance and told to stay away from his estranged wife and another adult, The Buffalo Newsreported on its website.”
The Avalanche was our indoor soccer team and the Rockies were our NHL hockey?
If any of you are into looking up past Avalanche players be sure to follow this guy @spodein : One of the #avs past that I have the utmost respect for Shjon Podein and his charity @Team25
Not that Shjon needs any extra “cool guy” credit. But, you may recall he wore his uniform for like 48 hours after winning the Stanley Cup with he Avalanche. Somehow, that’s pure class!
@adater dropped this on us back in 2009 but it’s worth another mention. I can only imagine a place called the Chop Shop cutting that beard Parker has. A “Great Clip” just wouldn’t be enough for an enforcers beard.
